Elk City FFA Labor Auction to be held Tuesday at Civic Center

The Elk City FFA Chapter will hold its annual labor auction of members and the chapter advisor at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 21st at the Elk City Civic Center.  

The auctioneer for the 35th annual labor auction will be former ElkCity FFA member and State FFA Degree recipient Rusty Garrison.  LeslieMouse, Greg Mouse and Brandon Cloud, and Jon Butler will serve as ringmen while Jim Blevins, Rick McNeil, Kenneth Hart, and Jeff Lewallen, and Buddy Wood will be the clerks.  

Free homemade pies and cakes will be served by the FFA Parents Club beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The sale bill lists 85 FFA members and one advisor to be sold.  Each student will be sold for one eight-hour work day.

Sponsored by Hot Spot Truck and Car WashThe sale is the chapter’s major fundraiser for the year.  The proceeds are used for all chapter activities, including sending delegates to the State and National FFA Conventions, two delegates to the Washington LeadershipConference in Washington D.C. and the Elk City 4-H and FFA Livestock Show.  All of the FFA members’ motel rooms on out of town trips and some show entries and some shop and show equipment are also paid for by the Chapter. The chapter also purchased a livestock trailer last year and paid for everal improvements at the school farm.

Donations by the chapter are also made to the Elk City Education Foundation,  the Oklahoma FFA Foundation, and the Randy Logan Scholarship fund.  

Chapter officers this year are Elizabeth Long, president; Josh McGuire,  vice- president; Taylor Carnes, secretary; Macie Maddox, treasurer; Jim Nutley reporter; Jim Nutley,  Taylor Mouse, sentinel and Mr. Larry Long, chapter advisor.
