Three injured in Saturday wrecks

Daily Elk Citian Community News - Elk City, OklahomaThe Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated two accidents Saturday in which the occupants were injured.

At 4:45 a.m., Jared Francis, 22, was driving on U.S. Highway 60 just west of State Highway 34 when his truck ran off the roadway for 300 feet and struck a tree.

The Vici resident was transported by Vici EMS to Seiling Municipal Hospital and then transported to Southwest Medical Hospital in Oklahoma City with leg injuries. 

He was listed in stable condition. The OHP said the crash occurred because Frances was apparently sleepy.

The Dewey County Sheriff's Office and Vici police assisted at the scene.

Also on Saturday, two Wisconsin residents weretaken to Clinton Integris Hospital after the van they were in crashed on Interstate 40 at mile marker 65A in Clinton.

The van was traveling eastbound on the interstate and attempted to take the exit at an unsafe speed. 

The driver, Richard Bue, 73, lost control and overcorrected twice before wolfing down an embankment. The van rolled twice and came to rest on its wheels. 

Both the driver and the passenger, 73-year-old Marjorie Bue, were pinned for approximately 10 minutes before being freed by the Clinton Fire Department.

They were both transported to the hospital by Sinor Ambulance with head and internal injuries. Marjorie also had arm injuries.

The cause of the crash was listed as unsafe speed. Also assisting was the Custer County Sheriff's Office and the Clinton Police Department.
