The Trojanettes were looking to be focused against the Mountain View-Gotebo Lady Tigers, from the tipoff Canute was.

The Trojanettes started out on a 13-0 run against the Lady Tigers and ended their regular season with a 41-29 win.

"We wanted to make sure we stayed focused and we did. I was pretty proud of the way we came out and didn't play down to a different level," said Owen Dickson, Canute girls head coach.

Bailey Divis lead the Trojanettes with 20 points and Jessika Franklin chipped in eight points on Homecoming night.

The Trojanette defense allowed just six points at halftime and 24 through four quarters.

"I thought that set our tone. All year that we've played that's kind of been our M.O. Defensively wise if we have it click and we are playing well defensively our offense sparks," said Dickson.

On Canute’s Homecoming night the Trojans were looking to finish the regular season off at home on a good note. Mission accomplished.

The Trojans powered past Mountain View-Gotebo 47-35 while riding a quick 6-0 start. Canute allowed six points in the first quarter and six in the second quarter, leading them to a win.

“Defensively when we put the effort out we usually can play pretty good defense,” said Larry Parrish, Canute boys head coach. “We stuck with our man-to-man and it was effective.”

Damon Kupka scored 22 points in the win for the Trojans. Kyle Beals dropped in nine points, Anthony Farni had seven, and Keiyon Smith chipped in six points.

Canute was pleased with their offensive output of 47 points. Canute shot 41 percent from two-point range.

“It’s double from what we usually are. I’ll take that. Just getting a win is big for these kids,” said Parrish. “It’s something positive to build on.”
