The Elkettes had a difficult weekend after playing two top 10 ranked teams in Class 4A.

Elk City fell to the no. 7 ranked Weatherford Lady Eagles 57-46 on the road on Friday night and also fell to the no. 2 ranked Anadarko Lady Warriors 69-34. The Elkettes fall to 3-16 after the two losses.

Elk City was led by Mikayla Harrison who scored 13 points in the loss to Anadarko. The Lady Warriors gave the Elkettes a tough time as they had three players score in double figures and had 11 players drop the ball through the hoop. Ashley Beatty, Kati Sullivan, and Lakota Beatty were Anadarko's leading scorers.

"(Anadarko is) a really good team and very athletic, and deep. They shot it really good tonight," said Garrette Mantle, Elk City head coach.

The Lady Warriors attempted 28 3-pointers and got 10 of them to fall.

"It's just a brutal matchup for us," said Mantle.

The Elkettes were beaten in rebounds, field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, and free throw percentage. But the Elkettes did win the turnover battle 14-17.

"(That's) really surprising and I sat there and watched it. I thought we had somewhere around 34 turnovers. I guess it just seemed that way," said Mantle.

The Big Elks took a 19-17 lead into halftime of the Saturday night game against Anadarko.

That lead quickly diminished in the final 16 minutes as the Warriors outscored the Elks 43-21. The Big Elks fell 60-40 and dropped to 7-12 on the year.

"They just overwhelmed us. They just took us out of everything that we tried to do," said Mantle. "They did whatever they wanted to do offensively."

Luke Lewallen scored 12 points in the loss and Joby Gray contributed 10 points. Anadarko's Sheldon Wilson had a game high 19 points, while playing just 20 minutes.

Anadarko went from shooting 5 of 16 in the first half to shooting 16 of 24 in the second half.

The Big Elks fell to Weatherford on the road on Friday night 50-48.
