Elk City 9th grade boys basketball team

The Elk City 9th grade boys played Weatherford here on February 2. The Elks got the lead in the first quarter and never trailed after that. At the end of the first quarter the Elks led with the score of 12-8. The Elks led by nine at the half 25-14. They had a slow 3rd quarter only scoring six, but held Weatherford to six as well, the score was 31-20. A game high fourth quarter of 16 points gave the Elks the final score 47-28.
Leading scorers were: Cameron Rogers: 14, Cody Patton: 12, Destry Kelley: 9, Conner Smith: 5, Tate Harland: 5, Chance Butler: 2.
The Elk City boys basketball team lost to Carnegie on February 6, 38-33.
The Elks trailed at the half 20-14, but brought it back to one to end the 3rd quarter down 24-23.
“Missed opportunities late cost us the game,” said Jared Keys, Elk City 9th grade coach.
Leading scorers: Cody Patton 10, Destry Kelley 7, Cameron Rogers 7, Conner Smith 7, Tate Harland 2.
The Elks’ next game is Wed. the 8th, to start the Anadarko Tournament.
9TH GRADE ELKETTES
The 9th grade Elkettes played Weatherford and could not come away with a win. The Elkettes fell 38-12. Only four Elkette players scored against the Lady Eagle defense. Randie Cheatham and Michaela Spilinek both had four points. Tristin Noyes and Tori Schones chipped in two points in the loss.
