Seven Big Elk wrestlers will have a chance at furthering their wrestling season at the Regional Tournament in Anadarko.

On Friday and Saturday the Elk City wrestlers will be aiming at finishing in the top four of their divisions to keep their season alive and spring life into the State Tournament.

"They're excited and ready to go to Regionals," said Kevin Mincher, Elk City head coach. "The last 10 days they've been building up to this."

Elk City senior Hunter Christian is in the 113-pound weight class. Christian missed the State Tournament last year by one match and is looking to make it to Oklahoma City this season.

Cody Williamson will fill-up the 120-pound weight class at Regionals.

Senior Elk Dylan Pollard will wrestle at 152 pounds.

Gavyn Smith will be in the 160-pound weight division.

Elias Wiseman will compete at 182 pounds.

Wyatt Hill will get into the 195-pound division.

Senior Elk Aaron Cromer looks to repeat his trip to the State Tournament last year. Cromer will be in the 220-pound weight class.

"Hopefully we get three to State," said Mincher. "We have a chance with four (qualifying)."

In Anadarko there will be 16 schools with wrestlers all competing to get to State.

The Big Elks are coming off of their win against Mangum during Senior Night and have been preparing for the Regional Tournament since then.

"Last week we did a lot of conditioning and a lot of wrestling," said Mincher.

This week the Elks are looking to get their finishing moves down and give themselves the best chance of getting into the State Tournament.

"We will do a lot of wrestling (this week)," said Mincher. "Thursday will be a polishing day."
