Free online subscriptions for active military

Just in time for Veterans Day, the Daily Elk Citian is offering a special way for active members of the armed forces to keep up with the news while they are away serving their country.

Beginning today, the Daily Elk Citian will provide a free on-line subscription to any active-duty military member from this area who is assigned away from home.

"We're glad to be able to offer this new service as a way to honor our military personnel and show in some small way our appreciation for their service," said publisher Derek Manning.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  They will be assigned a password to access a free one-year subscription to the online edition, valued at $58.

"Our new online newspaper system, along with being a more user-friendly format, allows us the flexibility to do some new things like this,” Manning said.  “We felt this would be a great way to take advantage of some of those capabilities and allow our military people to get their newspaper the same day everyone at home does.  No more waiting days or weeks for the mail to deliver to a faraway location.”
