It’s been a little breezy of late, but at least it has not been really cold so far. Possible rain or sleet for the weekend though! Let’s keep praying that God will continue to bless us with more moisture soon!
Locals met in the Hammon City Park to light the Christmas lights for the holiday season on Wednesday evening at 5:30. Hot Chocolate and cookies were enjoyed by all in attendance! Drive by the lights look great!
If you didn’t get to attend the 100th Birthday Celebration of Hammon School, DVD’s of the “Hammon School--100 years of Warrior Pride” are still available for $5.00 or $6.00 if mailed. The Foundation also currently has a few afghans celebrating Hammon School’s 100th birthday left. The design features a part of an apple with the inscription “100 years, 1911-2011, Educating Hammon, Then, Now, Tomorrow”. The cost is $50.00. These would make an awesome Christmas gift for someone who has everything! Contact Brenda Archer, Lorri Moore, Cheryl Ivey, Randy Stickney, or Shelly Goodall to order yours today!
Please remember those who are sick or shut-in in our community or those who have community ties. These people need our prayers and maybe drop them a card or stop by to visit for a few minutes. Concern list---Ann Roles, Loy Flick, Ed Tippens, David Sparks, Earl Johnson, Ruth Dugger, Clara Old Crow, Bill Lackey, Jimmie Joe Clifft, Ruth Higgins, Alena Rose, Joe Cochran, Ted Dean, Mary Hibler, Jesse and Lillie Darby, Betty Blount, Bertha Grice, Judy Marshall, and Dorothy Jones.
Don’t forget that the Hammon Public Library is open and ready for you to visit. Everyone is welcome to come in, take a look, and check out some great books. Three computer terminals and best-selling books, DVD’s, and children’s books are currently available. All materials have been graciously donated. Local volunteers are currently manning the library. After hours the library is open only on Thursdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
The Community Fellowship Church ladies want to remind you that Shelly Goodall teaches a women’s class twice a month on Sunday Evenings. However, the Women’s Class has currently been postponed until the first of the year to allow everyone to spend more time with their families during the holidays! The church also live streams their services at churchsaid.org. or churchesaid.com on Sunday mornings. So tune in if you are unable to attend.
The Hammon Church of Christ morning services are now as close as your computer. Live video streaming is now available for screening at 10:45 A.M. each Sunday morning. Of course, Hammon Church of Christ members would like to invite you to come and join them for services anytime. Sunday morning services start at 10:45 and there is a Bible Study on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 P.M. But if you can’t make it, you can tune in and listen in at their website www.hammonchurchofchrist.com. The site also has dozens of spiritual messages you can listen to or download the weekly church bulletin, member information, printable information, and the monthly calendar. Tom Harguess, local preacher, invites everyone to stop by his office at the church for a chat or help. The church meets for Sunday night service at 6:00 and on Wednesday night. The church also posts information and news on Facebook under Hammon Church. The Apostle Paul said "I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some of them." 1 Corinthians 9:22 (NKJ). You can also check out Tom’s Tidbits—a short 4-5 minute devotional message to get your day started off in the right way! Just click on the website and go to audio messages.
Don’t forget that the Hammon United Methodist Church distributes Food Boxes on the third Thursday of each month from 10-11 A.M. To receive a box, call Chuck at 580-695-9159.
Get out and enjoy the wonderful meals served at the Hammon Senior Citizens Center every day Monday through Friday. Senior citizens pay only $3.00 and its $6.00 for anyone under 55 years of age. The meals are delicious and well-balanced and include a dessert and a drink. Try it out and support our local Center.
