Sandy Horton

Sandy Horton was born June 11, 1944 in New London, Connecticut to Elizabeth and Kenneth Dussault. She passed away August 22, 2011 at Portales, New Mexico at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 11 days.

She moved with her parents to Tucson, Arizona as a small child, moved to Dill City, Oklahoma with her young family in 1972 and later to Elk City, Oklahoma. She was married to Claude Leon Horton in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 18, 1987. They continued to make Elk City their home where together they operated Dalon Inc., Triple Q Inc. and Roadway Services.

She was a member of the Elk City Community Church. She was a loving, caring mother, sister and friend, the glue that held her family together. She was known for her generosity and open heart throughout the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 1 great grandson.

She is survived by her children, Sallie Ann Powers and husband, Ray, Elk City, OK, Edward Lee Corbett and wife, Dawn, Mathis, TX, DeeDee Feltman and husband, Steve, Cordell, OK, Lanora Ellen Horton, Bethany, OK, Judy Claudette Huff and husband, John, Oklahoma City, OK; 9 sisters, Betty Skelton, Elk City, OK, Sharron Burnam, Elk City, OK, Georgia Davidson, Midland, TX, Nanette Kerns, Elk City, OK, and Cynthia Short, Elk City, OK, Kathy Carlisle, Cheyenne, OK, Debbie Haden, Ransom Canyon, TX, Michelle Buffham, Austin, TX, Jeanne Pruitt, Athens, GA; 2 brothers, Ken Dussault, Gilbert, SC, Robert Lafave, San Diego, CA; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, special sisters, Glenna Hollis, Kay Farmer, Gale Elliott, Harriet Simpson, JeanAnn Walker, Delila Weatherly and a host of other relatives and friends, including "the boys", Winston and Theodor.

Services were held Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Elk City Community Church, officiated by Pastor Judy Timms. Burial followed at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
