Jerry L. “Slim” Black

Jerry L. “Slim” Black was born September 28, 1944 in Elmer, Oklahoma to Mary Myrtle and Joseph Early Black. He passed away October 26, 2011 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years and 28 days. 

Jerry grew up western Oklahoma graduating from Duke High School. He joined the Army National Guard and served his country from 1964 until 1968. He later was a service manager for various car dealerships in Texas, Western Oklahoma, and Washington. For the past several years he was employed for Hutchinson Oil Company. 

Jerry enjoyed dancing, playing pool, and doing yard work. He loved his family and was especially fond of his cat, Muffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lloyd, sister, Wava and a grandson, “Lane”.

He is survived by his 4 daughters, Tonja, Tammi, Trina and Leslie Black; 2 step children, Kimberley Reed, Frisco Fuqua; 9 grandchildren, Sara, David, Torie, Breanna, Rorie, Alyssa, Justin, Shawn, and Bailey; 2 great grandchildren, Christian Carranza, Riley Conroy; brothers, Gary, Wayne, Max, and Rodney “Buck” Black, beloved friend, Karen Barker Black and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Services were held Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Whinery-Savage Chapel, officiated by Curtis Newton. Following the services, the family greeted visitors at the Berlin Community Center. Condolences may be made online at www.whineryfs.com.
